For homeowners
If you're planning DIY help, decorating, landscaping or other work around the home, start by understanding the job. The service guides suggest questions to ask and details to include in a brief.
My own project · Starting in Sunderland
A project for homeowners planning work and tradespeople who want their work to be seen.
I'm John Swan, a software developer and technical lead based in the North East of England. Alongside my professional work, I'm building Perfect Tradesmen as a long-term project of my own: a platform intended to help homeowners and local trade businesses find each other.
The marketplace is still in development. Matching and booking have not launched. The site already has planning guides and information about the Sunderland launch, and both homeowners and tradespeople can register early interest.
The idea
A home improvement job begins before anyone picks up a tool. A homeowner needs to describe the work, understand the kind of help required and ask useful questions. A trade business needs a clear brief and a way to explain its services and show relevant work.
That's the problem Perfect Tradesmen is intended to address. The current home improvement and service guides help visitors think through a project, while the planned marketplace will build on that starting point.
My background is in back-end systems, C#/.NET, Azure and making software reliable and practical to use. You can read about my professional experience or get in touch about the project.
Two sides of the same project
If you're planning DIY help, decorating, landscaping or other work around the home, start by understanding the job. The service guides suggest questions to ask and details to include in a brief.
If you run a trade business, find out about the planned business profiles and websites, and how to register your interest. Registration does not publish a profile or guarantee work.
The initial focus is the City of Sunderland council area, including Washington, Houghton-le-Spring and Hetton-le-Hole. The launch page explains the planned coverage and early-interest options for both audiences.
