Hi, welcome to Gary Metcalf trumpeter page. My name is Gary and I live in the north East of England. I breed and exhibit double crested and beck crested Trumpeters. I have various colours including whites, blacks, barless blues, yellows, reds plus lots more. I do exhibit at a few shows but not as many as I would like too. I will be adding some more photo's so please tell me what you think.|
"It was really hard to sort out 1,700 birds into just 8 sections but we managed it
and our Best In Show was a DC German Trumpeter owned by Gary Metcalf, taking top spot
of the day. Gary has stuck with his Trumpeters for years, he has always put them in first
class order, Trumpeters are an art form to get ready for shows, lots of hard work so a well-deserved
win for Gary with a 1997 bird in tip-top order. He also finished runner-up in the Champions of Champions.
A smashing weekend for Gary, well done".

"At Blackpool I was judging the trumpeter section, only 17 but I was judging some real quality birds on show, certainly
the best section. Most were in good feather and when I handled Gary Metcalf's white German Double Crested Trumpeter I
knew I was on to something special, feather perfect and spotless.

I was amazed to find the bird was 10 years old. Next morning I had only just arrived when this big man came towards me "Are you Tom Crane" he asked. I thought what
have I done. He was Gary Metcalf and it was his German Trumpeter, my best in section but on victory road it swept the
board to become Show Champion, what a win for a ten year old. Gary was delighted and so was I, what a nice man to seek me out to thank me.
Even if we never have another Blackpool show I shall never forget that white Trumpeter."
